Security

Your QIF files are processed securely in memory and never stored. No retention. No telemetry.

Your data is never stored

qifmodel.com follows a strict privacy‑first principle: your QIF files are never saved on our servers.

When you open a QIF file, it is uploaded to our server only for parsing. The file is processed entirely in memory, converted into a viewer‑friendly format and immediately discarded. We do not write your file to disk, cache it or retain it after processing.

This ensures your proprietary manufacturing data remains under your control.

How it works

Secure server‑side parsing

  • Your QIF file is uploaded only for parsing.
  • The QIFModel engine processes the file in memory and never stores it.
  • After parsing, the file is immediately discarded.

Client‑side visualization

  • The viewer runs in your browser using WebAssembly (WASM).
  • Only parsed data is sent back to your device for rendering.
  • No raw QIF file contents are transmitted beyond the initial upload.

No storage, no telemetry

  • We do not store, log or archive your QIF files.
  • We do not collect geometry, tolerances, PMI or manufacturing metadata.
  • We do not track which files or models you open.

Minimal transmission

Your file is transmitted only once—for parsing—and never stored. No third parties or external services receive your data.

Privacy by design

qifmodel.com is built with a privacy‑first architecture.

Minimal permissions

The viewer requires no special permissions and only accesses the file you explicitly choose to upload.

No accounts required

You can use the viewer without creating an account or providing personal information.

No cookies for file handling

We do not store QIF data in cookies or local storage. If optional features like “recent files” are added in the future, they will be stored locally on your device only.

Secure by architecture

Our hybrid architecture (server‑side parsing and client‑side rendering) avoids common security risks associated with cloud storage or persistent file handling:

  • No server‑side file retention
  • No cloud storage exposure
  • No multi‑tenant data leakage
  • No long‑term data persistence
  • No accidental retention of sensitive manufacturing data

Your QIF file exists only briefly in server memory and is removed immediately after parsing.

Open standards, transparent technology

qifmodel.com is built on open standards and modern, sandboxed technology:

  • QIF (Quality Information Framework) — an open, ISO‑approved standard for metrology and manufacturing quality data.
  • WebAssembly (WASM) — a secure, sandboxed environment for fast, client‑side visualization.
  • Modern browser APIs — providing isolation, memory safety and secure rendering.

Best practices for your organization

While qifmodel.com does not store your data, we recommend standard engineering security practices:

  • Use the viewer on trusted, managed devices.
  • Keep your operating system and browser up to date.
  • Avoid opening unknown or untrusted QIF files.
  • Close the tab after reviewing highly sensitive data.
